Sculptor Ratko Petrić, the initiator of the first Sculpture colony in Jakovlje, wrote in the accompanying catalog: "In the war environment, once again - the act of creating opposes the act of destruction and killing." Journalist Vesna Kusin wrote in Vijesnik the same year: "In front of the north wing of the castle that looks like it was the aim of an enemy attack, between boulders of recently provided rocks, people appear, workers with stone saws, with chisels and hammers. Picture uncommon in Zagorje idyll with a decrepit castle that we usually imagine with ivy. In front of the wing from which trees are growing and whose openings allow you to see all through the sky, sculptors of the first International Sculpture colony Jakovlje are working diligently, gathered there with a clear purpose - to send SOS signals to help the castle which threatens to become a ruin ... now where was once a flower garden, some other flowers grow. In the dust clouds that rise when sawing, sanding, carving stones, art forms grow in this hard worker workshop of five artists from home and abroad ... ".

International Sculpture Park in Jakovlje

Around the castle there is a park from the 19th century. From the year 1972 the castle and the Park are owned by the Croatian Association of Artists and the Croatian Association of Artists of Applied Arts . The artists have their studios in the castle while the Park is enriched with the sculptures created during the art colonies held there from 1993 until 2010, under the leadership of sculptor Ratko Petrić.
